The Frugality of God - Nothing is Wasted [Sermon]

John 6.12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
1. Sin
Judges 14.4
Joshua 23:12-13 “But if you turn away and ally yourselves with the survivors of these nations that remain among you and if you intermarry with them and associate with them, then you may be sure that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become snares and traps for you, whips on your backs and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land, which the Lord your God has given you.
Deuteronomy 7:1-3 When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations … Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons.
Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.
2. People Encounters
Acts 8:1 And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
Acts 22.20-21 And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’ “Then the Lord said to me, ‘Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”
3. Time
Isaiah 49.8 This is what the Lord says: “In the time of my favor I will answer you.
Joel 2.25 Repay for the years the locusts have taken.
Philippians 3.12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
II Corinthians 11.23 – I have worked much harder….
4. Prayers
Romans 8.26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Revelation 5.8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Revelation 8.3-4 NASB Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand.
